Baton Rouge, LA – The Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) released the following statement regarding the posting of Louisiana’s Class VI primacy application notice in the federal registry.
“Securing primacy is a fundamental first step in solidifying Louisiana as a global leader of the energy future,” said Lauren Hadden, LABI’s general counsel and director of its Energy and Environmental Quality Council. “We’re encouraged by this move forward. Granting Louisiana jurisdiction over Class VI injection wells gives the state direct oversight over the carbon capture and sequestration permitting process and allows our state to safely implement technologies that reduce emissions, while preserving our vital oil and gas industry. We appreciate the efforts of the EPA, Governor Edwards, Louisiana’s congressional delegation and all of our allies in Washington. The future of energy is happening right in our backyard, and Louisiana is ready for the global stage.”
