“I love that one of the major policy priorities of LABI is cradle-to-career [pathways]. We have to tackle that at some point, early childhood to K-12 to post-secondary to workforce training, however that looks. There has to be seamless integration of families, communities, investors and policymakers.
“We don’t want to corner a sixth grader, seventh grader, eighth grader [and say] ‘hey, you’re going to be a nurse.’ There should be data and information that when you’re getting to those grade levels and you’re entering into high school, you have an idea of what you want to do and how that fits into your plans to stay here in Louisiana, because ultimately that’s the goal.”
