2026 voting guide reflects the progress that comes with pro-business leadership—and a Legislature increasingly working together to create opportunities for Louisianans

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) today released its 2026 Legislative Scorecard, recognizing a wide swath of lawmakers whose votes advanced policies that make Louisiana more competitive, grow the economy and empower job creators.

The report illustrates a sustained effort by LABI—guided by LA Driven, its statewide strategic plan, and carried out through its Program of Work—to champion free enterprise via a cohesive vision for attracting investment and creating opportunity, and to elect and support the lawmakers, policy leaders and employers who shared that vision and worked together to seize the momentum at Louisiana’s doorstep.

“This year’s results are not simply a reflection of legislative votes,” said LABI CEO and President Will Green. “They are a testament to the sustained efforts of Louisiana’s business community to recruit and elect pro-business leaders, mobilize grassroots advocates and champion free-market principles throughout the legislative process.

“When employers invest their time, resources and voices in public policy, meaningful change follows. The progress captured in this year’s Scorecard reflects the impact of a business community that remains organized, engaged and committed to advancing policies that strengthen Louisiana’s economy and create opportunity for future generations.”

Sixteen bills were selected for inclusion in this year’s Scorecard, highlighting policy priorities driven by LABI members.

For 46 years, LABI has recognized lawmakers who demonstrate a strong commitment to pro-growth policies. Legislators earning a score of 80% or higher are recognized in one of three categories. This year, 90 legislators earned honors, including:

• 52 Most Valuable Policymakers (MVPs) with perfect 100% scores,
• 16 All-Stars with scores between 90% and 99%, and
• 22 Honorable Mentions with scores between 80% and 89%.

“While divisive issues may have dominated the headlines at times, the most meaningful success of this session was the bipartisan work to strengthen Louisiana’s workforce,” Green said.

“Lawmakers advanced policies that expanded career pathways, strengthened work-based learning and better connected education to the needs of job creators. These are the investments that will prepare Louisianans for the jobs of today and tomorrow, give businesses the talent they need to grow and create more opportunities for families in every parish. When we build a stronger workforce, we build a stronger Louisiana, giving more of our talent a reason to stay, work and build a future here at home. That’s exactly the kind of results LA Driven was built to deliver, and it’s what happens when Louisianans elect leaders who share that vision.”

Though not every priority made it across the finish line, the 2026 Scorecard sets an important benchmark for what is possible when lawmakers, the business community and advocates for free enterprise work together around a shared vision for Louisiana’s future. As the state heads into the 2027 election cycle, LABI and the business community will keep pushing free enterprise to drive economic opportunities, because while the political landscape may change, what Louisiana needs from its policymakers does not. This year showed what the state can accomplish when lawmakers commit to pro-business policies, and LABI will continue to expect that same commitment, and to help elect the leaders who deliver it, in the years ahead.

LABI will recognize this year’s Scorecard honorees at its Legislative Champions Reception on Dec. 10 at the LABI Center for Free Enterprise. The event will celebrate the lawmakers who stood with Louisiana’s business community and helped advance policies that create greater opportunity for workers, businesses and communities.
