Sounds of Session: Staying an Energy Leader with Rep. Jessica Domangue

The future of Louisiana’s energy industry is poised to be a topic of major consequence over the next two-plus months at the Capitol. More than two dozen bills have been filed that would weaken Louisiana’s standing as a leader in carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) and thus giving states like Texas the opportunity to lure investment away from Louisiana.

Rep. Jessica Domangue (R-Houma) is a staunch advocate of an all-of-the-above energy approach, including utilizing our existing infrastructure to be a CCS leader. Last week she articulately made her case for this in an article: Domangue: Another Side of the Carbon Capture Story. Rep. Domangue stopped by LABI’s Center for Free Enterprise this week to dispel misinformation surrounding CCS and discuss some of the bills she and her colleagues will debate this year. LABI’s Energy and Environmental Quality Issue Council director, Patrick Robinson, joined Rep. Domangue to highlight the opportunities surrounding CCS that can either be achieved in Louisiana or ceded to our neighbors. Episode 3 can be listened to here.

“I just wish that going into 2026, we would let go of the noise and just look at
the facts. If we can create policy based on the facts, then we’re going to create something that’s really, really good for the state of Louisiana.”
