Help Ensure High School Credentials Actually Meet Workforce Needs

TAKE THE SURVEY

Deadline: Thursday, April 30

Employers across Louisiana are struggling to find entry-level workers who are ready to contribute on day one. This survey is your chance to directly influence which industry-based credentials are prioritized and whether they truly reflect the skills businesses need most. If employers do not speak up, key decisions on Louisiana’s IBC offerings will move forward without a clear understanding of workforce demand. The survey closes Thursday, April 30—don’t wait to make your voice heard.

When credentials do not reflect real industry demand, the cost is not theoretical. It shows up in delayed projects, increased training expenses, lost productivity and competitive disadvantage compared to neighboring states.

We need to hear from you.

We are collecting employer data to determine whether the state’s IBC system is aligned with actual workforce needs. Specifically, we need your input on:

  • Whether IBCs influence your hiring decisions
  • Which certifications truly signal job readiness
  • Where skills gaps persist
  • What adjustments would better reflect industry demand

State leaders use this data to determine which certifications are prioritized, funded and incentivized. If employers do not weigh in, critical decisions will be made without a clear picture of market demand.

The survey takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete. Your response will directly shape how Louisiana prepares its future workforce — and whether the state remains competitive in attracting and growing industry.

Thank you for helping strengthen Louisiana’s talent pipeline and competitiveness. If you have any questions, please contact Mariah Hernandez at mariahh@labi.org.
