LABI chief to discuss legislative issues at Chamber briefing

DENHAM SPRINGS – The upcoming legislative session, the special session that precedes it and what the business community can expect to pay are among the topics to be covered at the Chamber Business Briefing on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

Stephen Waguespack, CEO/president of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI), will be the guest speaker at 8:30 a.m. at Greystone Country Club.

Check in for the Chamber of Commerce event is at 8 a.m. Deadline for reservations is Friday, Feb. 16.

With nearly 20 years of experience in federal and state politics, Waguespack, who also writes a weekly political column, leads the largest business advocacy group in the state, representing more than 2,200 business members and 324,000 employees.

Waguespack is also expected to discuss Gov. John Bel Edwards’ proposed budget, the “fiscal cliff” the state faces with the expiration of a temporary 1-cent sales tax and Louisiana Checkbook.

Louisiana Checkbook is a transparency website that track government spending that Waguespack has been following closely.
